DIY Butterfly Hooded Towel For Kids

Fri, Oct 4, 2013 | 0-2, 2-4, 5-7, 8-11, DIY Projects, For ages

For some parents getting their kids to take a bath is an all-out war. You can make bath time more fun and inspiring. One of tactical steps is to make an original hooded towel. This tutorial shows you the basic process of making a butterfly towel. Let`s begin with creating the face and wings. Cut your hand towel in half horizontally. Fold under the finished edge about 3-4 inches and pin and then stitch it in place. You`ll make the eyes using pattern pieces. As for antennae, sew them leaving the bottoms open. Turn them right side out and stuff them with some stuffing. Cut a slit in your towel and slide your antenna into it. You can design wings any way you like, for example, cut the edges of the towel to look like wings. At last you can design the work to your taste. And that’s it! You’re done! You see that there are so many ways to make ordinary things special adding your own unique personal touch.

Adorable DIY Three Pom Pom Blind Mice

Fri, Oct 4, 2013 | DIY Projects, Toys

Today I’m gonna share with you one of the cutest crafts ever – making three blind mice, which are just lovely for song bags, storytelling and even for Halloween décor, if you like! The supplies are: wool, felt, paint, CopyDex (or fabric/felt glue) and scissors. Begin with making three large pom poms and trimming them into a triangular shape with straight sides. Then from a sheet of felt cut out eyes, noses, mouths, ears and eye patches. With felt glue or CopyDex glue the felt pieces to the pom poms (for the ears you need to pinch and glue one edge together and glue in the center part a few of the pom pom threads) and hold them in  place for a few seconds for better secure. Attach the wiggly tail and you’re done!

Dreamy DIY Clouds For Nursery Decor

Thu, Oct 3, 2013 | 0-2, Kids room

Every baby is individual and only mother knows  what might make her baby fall asleep but clouds are universal, I think. So find some time to take on a cool project – DIY nursery clouds. It can be realized with a very small budget. All you need is a metal frame, styrofoam, white sheet, spray adhesive and batting. Primarily wrap the frame in a white sheet and attach it with spray adhesive. Then stick styrofoam balls and let everything dry. Spray your product with adhesive and attach hand sized portions of batting. Once your clouds are covered in batting and completely dry, simply hang with a strong fishing line and attach it to secure cup hooks screwed firmly into the ceiling. So very quickly and easily your can make your baby`s first room special and unforgettable.

DIY Fox Halloween Costume for Kids

Thu, Oct 3, 2013 | 2-4, 5-7, Clothing, DIY Projects

With Halloween fast approaching, it`s time to start thinking about costumes. Making your own Halloween costume is fun, but it can be time/money/nerves consuming. We`ve sorted out one of the favorite ideas for your kid – a DIY fox costume. Before shopping for materials, explore your wardrobe, rummage through old clothes and you may find something fit, for example, an old sweater (with a hood) and a red jacket. At first cut the hoodie and sleeves off the sweater. Then cut the shapes for the chest, ears, and tail of the felt. Pin your chest felt to the front of the jacket and sew it on. You may replace jacket`s buttons with vintage ones. Sew together the tail and ears (leave opening so you can flip the fabric and then stuff it). Finally sew the finished hoodie onto the collar of the jacket. If the sleeves of jacket are really short, add the sleeves of the sweater to the end of the sleeves of the jacket. It’s like they are the fox paws. That’s it! You see, that transforming old clothes is a great way to create a cheap/fun/cute/last minute costume for your babe (or even yourself….). Happy Halloween!

Whimsy Pink, Glittery Gold and Grey Teen Bedroom Design Inspiration

Wed, Oct 2, 2013 | 12-15, 8-11, Kids room

When I first saw this room photos, I could only whisper “Whoa…”. This bedroom has such a fun and whimsical spirit and reflects so perfectly my vision of how a teen girl’s room might look like! Although it’s obviously looking girly with all those glitter and pinks, it isn’t looking baby-ish or too schmaltzy along with woodsy and vintage pieces. Also the biggest advantages of this room are lots of DIY and personal touches like frame holding headbands and bows, the glittering “Yeah Baby” sign and hanging closet branch that fill the space and make it more individual and unique. See more ideas from this darling nursery in the gallery below.
